Anita
Hello Ladies!
My name is Anita. I am married to an Internet software engineer and we
share our home with "fur kids" of the feline purrrrsuasion. I am a
speaker and a published author and I consider it a privilege to serve as
a lecturer and small group leader here at After God's Heart.
I have a passion
to reach women with the Word of God and to show them how relevant
Scripture truly is to their lives. I am an avid student of Biblical
culture and history, especially the culture and lives of women in the
Old and New Testament.
I believe faith is a process that never ends. The depth of the study we
do at After God's heart, as well as the fellowship of women from
churches all over Sandpoint, have been important factors in my faith
process.
I came to Christ in my late twenties. The Lord moved me through tragedy
and into His arms, (it was quite a journey!). I am blessed to have
varied church experiences. These churches have taught me much about
worship, fellowship and the nature of God. My husband and I attend Cedar
Hills Church in Sandpoint and we serve as leaders for the Starting Point
outreach program and I am on the Board of Trustees.
I am constantly amazed at how fortunate I am to live in the midst of the
beauty of God's creation. It is in the beauty of this area on a hike, in
a kayak, on a pair of snow shoes or simply looking out the window that I
feel God's presence the most. When I am not out in His creation, you'll
find me reading, stamping, redecorating the house or curling up by the
fire with my husband and fur kids to watch a good movie.

Barbara
Greetings from North Idaho,
My name is Barbara and I grew up in Burbank, CA. I spent much of my
growing up years on the tennis courts. Even though my folks didn’t come
to know the Lord until later in their lives, as a kid, I always wondered
about God and thought that there must be more to this life than I knew.
A high school girlfriend starting sharing the gospel with me and when I
was a senior, I trusted in Jesus for my salvation. But it took me some
years before I really understood what it meant to daily walk with Him
and to make His word a part of my life.
I met my husband, Dale, on the tennis courts when he was 15 and I was
10. We’ve been married now for 47 years and are still playing together
at ages 70 and 65. Our real spiritual awakening came within the same 6
months when his dad suddenly died and my sister committed suicide. We
knew enough to go to the Bible for the answers to our many questions
about life, death, and heaven.
We attended Grace Community Church in CA for over 20 years which gave us
a wonderful foundation and love for the Word of God through the
preaching of John MacArthur. We currently attend First Baptist Church
in Sandpoint, ID. I’m part of the leadership group of After God’s Heart
and for the past four years I’ve been privileged to be one of the
lecturers of this community Bible Study. I love to encourage the women
to “let the word of Christ dwell in them richly in all wisdom…”
(Colossians 3:16). I am also blessed to be ministering here alongside
our daughter Angie. Dale and I have two other wonderful children who
also love the Lord and serve Him in different ways.
Laurie
Hi Friends,
My name is Laurie, I am married to David, and we live in Naples Idaho
with our two daughters, my dad, 4 cats and Franklin the duck. We also
have an older daughter, Bethany. She is married to Clint, who is in the
Army and they have our granddaughter Adiella. I classically educate Tali
and Maneesha at home, and stay more than busy with their various
activities. I have lived in North Idaho all of my life, growing up in
Coeur d’ Alene and the surrounding areas.
I first went to Church with my next door neighbor and her mom when I was
5. We went to a kid’s program called “whirly birds” where I heard about
and accepted Jesus as my savior. In the 7th grade my best friend Linda
had a crush on a guy who went to a nearby church, so we started
attending youth group and Sunday services. My husband and I met and grew
up in that same church, but it would be after 10 years apart that we
finally married in 1992. Like many of you I grew up with a non-believing
family and God has led me down an amazing path to be where I am today.
When my husband was transferred to Bonners Ferry, our family moved from
the only church I had ever attended. It took some time and some looking
until we found First Christian Church. On our second Sunday at church, I
read about the After Gods Heart Bible Study and decided to attend. The
study and the amazing ladies made me feel loved and right at home. I
have treasured every year of the study and am anticipating a wonderful
time of transformation and fellowship with friends. I look forward to
meeting you this year.
Blessings on you,
Laurie
Leslie
T.
Hi, I’m Leslie. Where am I from? Well, my early dirt digging/mud pie
training took place in South Dakota, but when I was 9, I moved to
California, where I lived until I graduated from college. After some
traveling, I married, and settled in the Northwest.
In 1997 a long illness and other factors disrupted our marriage, and I
moved to Sandpoint. During that low point, when I couldn’t pray, and no
longer felt close to the God Who I’d trusted all my life, Christian
women, became the lever that lifted me up. They invited me to women’s
retreats and conferences, to home Bible studies, including some studies
just for hurting women, and to After God’s Heart. Miraculously, the LORD
began healing me, both physically and emotionally.
Today, I’m a part of the core group at After God’s Heart; I’m a member
of the local chapter of American Christian Writers; and I attend First
Baptist Church in Sandpoint. I love puttering in my garden, as well as
going places where I can enjoy His creation. My walking partner is a
German shepherd and my alarm clock is a soft cuddly Siamese with claws!
I believe that nothing comes as a surprise to God. I believe that He is
all knowing and all powerful and that I have only Him to thank for
making “something beautiful out of my life!”
Louise
Hi! I am Louise, a grateful believer in
Jesus Christ. I have lived in beautiful northern
Idaho
for a long time, but not quite long enough to be considered a native! I
am married and have two grown children, but no grandchildren yet. I live
in the country with my husband, one dog, two outside cats, and a few
fish. I enjoy crafts, and lately I have been having fun in the
blogosphere. This will be my second full year in the role of small group
facilitator for After God’s Heart, and I hope to be a blessing to those
whom God sends to my group.
Marsha
Hi, I’m Marsha. My husband and I discovered Sandpoint in 1991. We were
planning a trip to the Spokane area looking for a place to retire when
someone from our Bay Area church said, “You’ll like Spokane. But if you
like Spokane, you’ll really like C’dA. And if you like C’dA, you’ll love
Sandpoint.” Well, the rest is, as they say, “History.” We crossed over
the Long Bridge; stopped to say, “Wow,” and were sold. We spent 6 years
visiting to make sure everyone was as nice as they seemed and moved here
in 1997.
We didn’t retire for long. My husband opened a construction company
later retired and now volunteers full time at First Christian Church
where we are members. I had been a public school music teacher and soon
was busy with private music students here in Sandpoint.
I was blessed to be raised in a Christian family and have known for a
long time that I was a daughter of the King. My parents were models for
Kingdom service and worship.
We have 3 sons (2 in ministry) and think our dogs are really “hairy
people.”
